This assessment evaluates your ability to identify key skills and behaviours, research ways to develop them and apply them to a specific work-based or study-related situations. You will read the case study of the importance of soft skills at university and in the workplace.

You will write a Skills Development Proposal, focusing on TWO soft skills required in the workplace or at university, and how they are used.

Students are required to complete THREE tasks:

  1. Define and explain key soft skills for work and study
  2. Discuss why soft skills are important to employees and students
  3. Explain how soft skills can be improved

LO 2: Discuss the importance of digital skills, attitudes and behaviours

Your Digital Behaviours Report should contain the following:

Introduction
You should begin with a brief overview of tasks 1, 2 and 3.

TASK 1: Key soft skills for students and employees
1)
 With specific reference to the case study, describe some of the soft skills you need at university and in the workplace
2) For two of the skills you mentioned in part (1) give an explanatory overview.
You could define the skills, describe related skill sets and identify associated personality traits or habits
3) Provide example tasks and situations where the two skills you included in part (2) are used by students at university and employees in the workplace

TASK 2: Why soft skills are important
1)
 Give reasons why the skills that you covered in Task 1 are important for employees and students. You should discuss the benefits of using the skills
2) Explain how the skills enhance employee performance and student outcomes in specific tasks and situations
You should support this explanation with references to reading resources from this module. You could also include ideas from articles in the online library.

TASK 3: Techniques for improving soft skills
1)
Describe at least ONE technique you could use for improving soft skills covered in Task 1
2) Explain how the techniques would be used in specific tasks or situations you may encounter as a a student or an employee
You should support this task with references to reading resources from this module. You could also include ideas from articles in the online library.
