Assignment Brief and Guidance

Scenario:

The position has become available within your company for the role of a ‘BIM manager’. You have already completed the BIM training and presented a short PowerPoint to your manager to confirm you understand the key aspects of BIM. As a number of your colleagues will also be applying for the position you are each to produce a report covering the following;

The report should be split in to two sections;

  • Section 1: Should include an explanation of the key differences between traditional and Building Information Management (BIM) related processes relating to construction and discuss how collaborative working can aid and support a BIM process. You should also provide an analysis on how BIM can inform a project outcome for the design team over and above traditional methods.
  • Section 2: You are to explain how information is created, managed and used through various stages of a BIM project and analyse how such information is used, shared and managed. You should explain and evaluate the roles that are required as part of a BIM-enabled project and also explain how the roles aid in the development of the project at all stages.

To conclude your report, you should assess how a BIM enabled process can result in positive outcomes for an asset owner, over and above traditional methods.

The word count for your report is 3000 words.
