3: Analysing an Example of Change

NOTE: Kindly share your UPDATED exam paper to the LIVE EXPERT with an updated Case Study (if any)

Aim: To better understand the nature of a proposed change by recognising the need for, scale of and potential resistance to that change
Duration: 2 hours

Think of a change at work that affected you or a change in an organisation outside of work that involved you. This might be a voluntary organisation that you belong to, for example. We would like you to briefly describe what the change was, outlining who initiated the change and why it was necessary. You should aim to:

  • Establish who was affected and how Identify any resistance to the change Consider how the change was approached
  • Determine the level this change was made at and the amount of associated time and degree of difficulty involved
  • Assess whether it was successful or not, and why you consider this to be the case

Once you have analysed your particular change, reflect on how thinking about change in this way might influence your future attitude and approach to change. What lessons about change do you take from this activity?
