According to new study by WHO and University College London resistance to antiretroviral drugs, a worrying sign for the course of AIDS epidemic is that it is increasing. In parts of Africa,Asia, Latin America, and Caribbean saying that the aforementioned drug resistance was serious only in eastern and southern Africa and was involving, mostly, a class of non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors the most common are nevirapine and efavirenz which is sold as Viramune and Sustiva. Seven and fourth tenths percent of viral stain tested eight years after affordable generic AIDS drugs were introduced in east Africa were drugrestisant but in the hardest hit part of the world in southern Africa that percentage were three and zero tenths thus causing that researchers conclude this is not unexpected because nearly eight million people have received the drugs in the past decade. This is still worrisome with generic manufacturers making some modern AIDS drugs with less side effects but only in fewer classes so they can keep their newest inventions at high prices resulting in higher profits. The new report it is suggested that pharmaceutical supply chains be strengthened in order that shortages which are common problem in poor countries will be presented and they also called for better patient tracking when they are prescribed for the drugs because anyone who stops even briefly the therapy are lots more likely to develop a drugrestant stain.
