These are the main areas from the assignment criteria (see handbook) to review the areas you will need to cover and they also provide a potential structure for the assignment

1. a succinct rationale for the texts chosen to compare and contrast (what texts have you chosen and why these, what are you wanting to show)

2. a relevant choice and exposition of analytical method/to investigate the texts chosen for the assignment and an understanding of the theoretical basis of the analytical methods chosen. (you need to be selective and match the methods with the areas your comparison is looking to highlight)

3. accurate description of the language choices in the texts relevant to the comparison with a move to a reasoned interpretation of the link between the language analysed and the context in which the texts are situated. (the key is to move from description to interpretation)

4. an informed and critical awareness of how such a linguistic analysis might inform syllabus/ materials development in a specific TESOL/ELT context.
