To complete this task, you can draw on a real organisational L&D need you are aware of. The L&D need should require a programme of development (i.e. not just a single session) and should be in relation to at least 6 learners.

Assessment ID: CIPD_5LD02_22_01

NOTE: Kindly share UPDATED CASE STUDY (if any) to the LIVE EXPERT. For more details CLICK HERE

This unit assessment considers the relationship between the learning and development needs of individuals and organisational objectives. It focuses on the elements of theoretical and contextual learning design in facilitating impactful learning experiences that support performance and productivity.

Task 1 - Questions
This task seeks to assess your detailed knowledge and understanding of learning design.
With reference to relevant theory and models, please provide written answers to each of the instructions below.

1. There are several key factors that must be considered when designing a L&D programme. Explore one factor from each of the following categories: (AC 1.1)
a) legal
b) logistical
c) financial
d) learner-related

2. Assess factors to consider when designing L&D programmes for dispersed workforces. (AC 1.2)
3. Explain how inclusivity and accessibility can be built into an L&D programme/activity at the design stage. (AC 1.3)
4. Evaluate two methods for identifying organisational L&D needs, making reference to the principles governing the use of each method. (AC 2.1)
5. Describe how you have (or would) conduct stakeholder analysis to identify learning needs. (AC 2.2)
6. Explain with an example how raw learning need data can be converted into clearly stated L&D objectives. (AC 2.3)
7. Assess how individual and team L&D objectives should align to organisational strategy and priorities. (AC 2.4)
8. Assess how two learning related theories or models have impacted the design of L&D programmes. (AC 3.1)
9. Discuss a range of L&D methods and how they can be blended to form an engaging and effective learning solution. (AC 3.2)

Your evidence must consist of:

  • Written responses to each of the 9 instructions
  • Approximately 2700 words in total.

Task 2 – L&D Programme Design
This task seeks to assess your application of knowledge and understanding in relation to L&D design. It requires you to design an L&D programme AND to explain how your design meets the requirements of AC 3.3.

To complete this task, you can draw on a real organisational L&D need you are aware of. The L&D need should require a programme of development (i.e. not just a single session) and should be in relation to at least 6 learners.
If you are unable to draw on a real organisational L&D need you should use the example below:

A medium sized organisation has recruited 16 internal applicants from operational roles to managerial roles. The recruits work across the organisation’s 3 sites and all have good job and organisational knowledge. However, none have any management experience or have had any relevant training. You are tasked with designing a management development programme to support the new recruits. As you do not have detailed learning needs information here – you should decide for yourself the learning areas you want to cover and L&D objectives to be met.

1. Design an L&D programme which addresses your identified L&D objectives. Provide your design in an appropriate format (e.g. table, spreadsheet, specialist software pages, customised template, etc.) as an appendix to your assignment. The design can be shown as a high-level overview but should include sufficient detail for the requirements in instruction 3, below, to be clearly seen.

2. In the main body of your assignment, briefly explain the context of your L&D design. If it is your own example, briefly explain this OR if using the provided example above, confirm this and clarify the learning areas/objectives you have decided to cover.

3. With reference to your L&D design, explain how/where your design includes:
– clearly stated L&D objectives
– learning content and methods which address the objectives
– techniques for supporting learner engagement
– evaluation/impact measurement activities. (AC 3.3)

Your evidence must consist of:
Question 1: A programme design (provided as an appendix, not included in word count)
Question 2: Brief written explanation (approx. 200 words)
Question 3: Written response (approx. 1000 words)
Total word count for this task - approximately 1200 words, refer to word count policy.

Assessment Criteria Evidence Checklist
You may find the following checklist helpful to make sure that you have included the required evidence to meet the task. This is not a mandatory requirement as long as it is clear in your submission where the assessment criteria have been met.
